Welcome!

Welcome to Polka Dot Photo! I’m so glad you stopped by. This is where you will find sneak peeks from recent sessions, specials I am running and new product offerings.

My name is Rina and I am a mom to 3 wonderful girls. I have taken great pleasure in documenting the passing years through countless photographs. Over the past couple of years I have come to realize that my hobby has turned in to a passion. I am so excited to be starting this new adventure in my life. Through the art of photography I would like to create cherished memories for friends, family and clients.

I am a Winnipeg, Manitoba natural light photographer.  I specialize in maternity, newborn and family portraiture.  Portrait sessions are done conveniently in your home or at a location that is special to you. Using natural light, my sessions will last approximately 2 hours depending on what type of session is booked. I don’t put any limits on poses or outfit changes.

Anticipation {Winnipeg maternity photographer}

I was honoured to be asked by Amber Bond of Amber Bond Photography to take her maternity photos.   It was such a pleasure to meet her and her husband and sweet little boy.  They are expecting their 2nd child and she was hoping to capture this moment in time with some photos.  I went to her house and we shot the session in her home studio which she uses for her portraits.  It was great having a dedicated space to work in.  Here are a few of the first images I’ve edited from the session.  Can’t wait to see the pictures you post of your new arrival when he (or she) arrives.

My family vacation

This past February we decided we needed to get away for some quality family time.  We booked a 5 night cruise out of Miami and visited a couple of islands.  My girls loved experiencing life on a big boat and getting the chance to see what life is like for people in Jamaica.  They also loved (and so did I), getting a chance to get up close and personal with a dolphin in Grand Cayman.  Before the cruise we spent a little time in Fort Lauderdale and enjoyed touring the Everglades and spotting a small gator basking in the sun.  My husband commented on how HAPPY I looked in all the pictures – kind of like crazy happy – which I guess I was — I’ve always loved dolphins – there’s just something about them.  See, I do look kind of deliriously happy don’t I?

I have wanted to have family photos done for quite a few years and it’s funny because I’m a photographer and yet we can never seem to find the time to pull ourselves together for a shoot.  I have done family photos setting my camera up on a tripod and setting the timer and running back and forth and they have worked, but I really wanted to capture my family just interacting and hanging out and I can’t do that with a timer and a tripod!  So, I contacted a photographer in Miami and booked a family session for our last evening of the vacation.  It was so much fun to be on the other side of the camera and the weather was great and the location was beautiful.  Here are some of my favourites from the session.  Can’t wait to get some up on my walls now!

And these pictures just make me happy when I see them — my youngest running down the beach just as happy as can be and of course, showing me yet another seashell!

Sweet baby girl Claire {Winnipeg Newborn Photographer}

I loved spending time with this couple a little over a month ago while doing their maternity photos.  I was glad to hear that little Claire arrived safe and sound and a little early.  I got to spend some time with this new family this week and take some photos of their little bundle at just one week of age.  Although she really made us all work hard for the shots since she really wasn’t interested in doing much else other than spending time with Mommy, she did give us little pockets of time to move through some poses.  Here’s your sneak peek.

Maternity in the Park {Winnipeg maternity photographer}

My precious little baby I have loved you from the start.  You are a tiny miracle laying closely to my heart.

I spent a beautiful evening with this couple capturing the moments leading up to the birth of their new daughter.  Shannon has had to take it easy for the last little while so she has found herself at home and has taken that time to get the nursery all ready.  She has been busy painting and sewing and the room is lovely in pale greens and lavender.

They had the sweetest dog, Makena, who I’m sure will be a great protector of her new little human sister who will be arriving soon.  Look at that adorable face.

We ventured out to a great little spot in a farmer’s field close to their house and then on to spend some time at Kildonan Park.  I love it when we have a chance to add variety to shoots by using a couple of different locations.   Can’t wait to meet your new daughter next month!
